He added that Canada is one of four countries (others
are China, Japan and Russia), which have been
earmarked for increased marketing by NCAA and TANAPA.
He said in this case what is needed is for the High
Commission to work closely with us to succeed in
promoting Tanzania to Canadians.
In conclusion The High Commissioner thanked the
representatives and said he hoped that the suggestions
made in the meeting will be the beginning of the
fruitful joint marketing of Tanzania in Canada.
On the 29th October was the end of International
Travel and Tourism Show. Members of the Tanzanian
delegation then travelled to Ottowa to visit the High
Commision Office before their return on the 3rd of

NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA AUTHORITY
REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANCY
SERVICES FOR THE NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
AUTHORITY (NCAA) LOCAL AREA NETWORKING (LAN) AND
COMMISSIONING OF NEWLY INSTALLED INTERNET VIA
SATELLITE.
OBJECTIVES
The main purpose for the participation of the NCAA in
ITTS, include the following:
To publicize Ngorongoro in the growing Canadian market
as a new destination.
To promote new products/services offered by the NCAA
to the Canadian Market. These include Eco-tourism as
a new concept to the Conservation of Nature, Cultural
Tourism, Walking Safaris etc.
To strengthen business relations between Canada and
Tanzania.
To exchange and share ideas with partners in the
Tourism Industry.
To find the preference of the market for promotional
tools and materials to assist in future choices to
ensure effective sales promotion in the Canadian
market in future.
2.1 PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
The Tanzanian Stand (Pavilion) was decorated with
materials of distinctive quality such as enlarged
animal pictures, cultural aspects, photographs, local
prints etc. Promotional materials included brochures
for Tanzania, TANAPA, NCAA, Zanzibar Leaflets,
Wildlife videos and DVD's, postcards, posters and
guide books. Give-away items were given to
distinguished guests, visitors, media, travel agents
and the general public. Wildlife videos and DVD's
were shown to the visitors at the Tanzanian Pavilion
during the fair, information was given and inquiries
attended to. There was also a chance to visit other
pavilions for public relations and exchange ideas.
2.2 OBSERVATION
During the fair it was noted that most of our
promotional materials were in documentary and bulky
form where as the market was more easily impressed by
items such as DVD's and posters. There is a need for
NCAA to reproduce DVD's and print more posters for
exhibitions.
There was a high demand for a general Tanzania Map
which shows all the protected areas in Tanzania.
Most of the visitors who visited our pavilion were
interested in Walking Safaris and Mountain Climbing.
2.3 RECOMMENDATIONS/CONCLUSIONS
During the Fair his Excellency the High Commissioner
of Tanzania in Canada, Hon. Ombeni Sefue, held a
working dinner on the 27th October 06 in honour of the
representatives of the Tourism Industry in Tanzania at
Le Zen Restaurant, Hotel Omni Mont Royal Montreal.
During the discussion the following issues were
highlighted and agreed upon:
There should be a direct cooperation/communication and
joint promotion between the tourism organisations in
Tanzania (NCAA, TANAPA , WD, Tour Operators) and the
High Commission in Ottawa.
In Order to have smooth marketing operations The High
Commission should prepare an action plan with detailed
activities for jointly marketing Tanzania and submit
it to NCAA and TANAPA.
It was also suggested that all tourism documents such
as Brochures, DVD's Posters etc. should be sent to
Ottawa and not to Toronto or Montreal where custom
clearance is much more expensive.
To reduce costs of carrying promotional materials The
High Commission should research on printing costs, so
that the Institutions could print Promotional material
in Canada.
NCAA, TANAPA and the Tour Operators should endeavour
to participate in the coming Investment Forum due
sometime in November or December 2006.
The High Commission should send the list/details of
Travel and Tourism Shows in other cities such as
Toronto, Vancouver and Galgary, so that NCAA and
TANAPA could jointly participate.
In the meeting it was noted that there is a high
demand of Tanzanian Maps so NCAA, TANAPA and TTB
should look on the matter and produce the map.
In order to win the Canadian Market, the High
Commission will make proposals for joint advertisement
in News papers, Travel Magazines and TV stations. The
High Commission undertook to research on the relevant
costs and forward them to partners in Tanzania.
It was suggested that the High Commission forward
proposals of marketing Tanzania from Nature Encounters
Tours, Bestway Tours and British Columbia. In order
to pursuit this we have to include the proposal in our
next Financial Year.
The meeting suggested the possibilities of having a
Road Show in major Canadian Cities (such as Vancouver,
Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay etc.) to
showcase Tanzania.
There was a request from the Embassy for NCAA and
TANAPA to provide diaries, calendars, bags etc. for
advertising and marketing purposes.
